Native Limes

  • 'Blood'

This variety was developed by the CSIRO. It produces a tangy fruit the size of a small hen egg with amazing blood red skin and a flavour that packs a punch. The flesh of the Red Centre lime consists of “tear drop shaped caviar” which develops different colours as it ripens. The tree is small leafed and quite thorny with a slightly weeping habit.

  • 'Finger Lime'

Original variety of the native citrus family. Fruit varies considerably in size, shape and colour. The fruit can be crimson, blood red, purple, black, yellow or green with a distinctive finger shape. The tree has thorny branches with tiny glossy, green leaves. Small white or pale pink flowers appear in late Summer and Autumn. The fruit is filled with juicy beads resembling “caviar” and burst with luscious tangy flavour when eaten.

  • 'Rainforest Pearl'

Rainforest Pearl is a variety of Finger Lime. This small evergreen tree has a tall, narrow, open form. Foliage is dark, glossy green with a purple flush of new growth. Flowers are small, white and fragrant, occurring in spring and the trees are bird and butterfly attracting. Fruits are finger-shaped and sized, ripening in Summer and Autumn. The skin of the fruit ripens from purple to green or pink and the mature pulp colour is green to pink. Compressed within the fruit are separate rounded pulp-vesicles which burst out like “pearls” or “caviar” with a lime flavour.

  • 'Sunrise'

Sunrise Lime was developed by the CSIRO. The fruits are attractive, yellow and pear shaped. They appear in Winter. The fruit can be eaten whole as the pith and rind are sweet and the juice is tangy and fresh with a delicate floral note.

The tree has glossy, dark green foliage. The tree is a lovely addition to any garden but also looks wonderful in a pot.
